(Hybrid Service – in person/Zoom)
This week we continue with Parshah “Tzav” which means “command, instruct, to give direction” and it is found in Leviticus 6:2. Here, G-d tells Moses to instruct Aaron and his sons regarding their obligations as High Priests (kohanim) who facilitate the offerings (korbanot) in the Tabernacle (mishkan).
Some of the instructions address how the fire on the altar must be kept burning at all times and how it will consume the ascending offering, and the peace, sin and guilt offerings. Also, the timing, location, and designation of who is able to eat the remainder of the offerings is established. Lastly, Moses initiates Aaron and his sons as High :Priests and they remain within the Tabernacle compound for seven days.
-
Why must the fire on the altar be continually burning and never go out?
-
Why are the offerings so detailed in relation to ascending offerings, peace offerings, sin and guilt offerings?
-
What does “Tzav”, which means “to command, to instruct, to give direction”, as it outlines the fire and various offerings have to do with us, today in 2024? Is there still a relevance when we don’t have the Holy Temple (Beit haMikdash)?
-
Come join us this evening as we discuss it!
Rabbi Scott is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
