At MAKOR: The Center for Spiritual Judaism (“MAKOR”), your privacy is important to us. We are providing this notice explaining our online information practices so that you can make choices about the way your information is collected and used.

We review our privacy practices from time to time, and our practices are subject to change at any time, in our sole discretion. Your continued use of the Website and/or failure to opt-out of emails sent to you following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of any and all changes.

The Information We Collect

We collect information from you to fulfill any transactions you undertake with us and to provide you with information about our products, services, and strategic partner events that are in keeping with our operation as a synagogue and community center.

Personal Information. “Personal Information” includes any information regarding you that may be used directly to identify you and your family. Personal Information that we collect may vary with each separate purpose for which you provide it, and it may fall under one or more of the following categories: contact details, religious information (including yahrzeits), membership details (including events attended), and financial information (including donations made and credit card information. We collect Personal Information that we receive from you as you communicate with us or participate through purchase. MAKOR has a CCTV system which records activity on our premises. The purpose of the CCTV is for security and to help with accidents and crime prevention. MAKOR’s CCTV archives may be accessed by MAKOR management and security teams, as well as law enforcement representatives.

Usage Data. We reserve the right to collect information based on your usage of this Website (“Usage Data”). Usage Data is essentially anonymous when collected, but could be used indirectly to identify a person. We use this for a number of purposes including review of Website performance to find areas for improvement and better user experiences.

To provide better service for our Website, we and our outside contractors and vendors may use Cookies and Web Beacons to collect Usage Data to store your preferences and information about what pages you visit and past activity at our Website.

Social Media Interactions

We may upload photographs of our events and members to our website and social media profiles.  These can be removed upon request. We invite you to socialize and share your participation with this Website and purchases. If you choose to use social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram, you will be allowing interaction with these platforms or other external platforms directly from this Website, and in the process you may be sharing certain profile elements, including your comments. This sharing is subject to each social media program’s privacy policies. We do not accept responsibility for the protection of any data publicly included on our website and on social media sites. If you participate in our Website blog by leaving comments, you may also share certain profile elements in addition to your comments. How We Use Your Information

We may use your Personal Information for the performance of the services or transaction for which it was given, and in connection with other products, services, or events, and our private, internal reporting for this Website, and security assessments for this Website.  This can include:

  • Providing the service or product and all its related functions.
  • Answering emails received, sending invitations to events, sharing news and offers.

We reserve the right to make full use of Usage Data. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. Children under the age of 18 are not authorized to use the Website and we ask that children do not submit any personal information to us.  We never collect or maintain information at our Website from those we know are under 13.

You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by sending us a formal letter requesting this information that credibly shows the error. If the information you want is with a third-party vendor or contractor, we will forward and document your request. To the best of our knowledge, any Personal Information which MAKOR (and not its third-party vendors) may collect on this Website will be stored and processed in servers located in the United States.
