However, keeping our minds and hearts clear is not a “one-and-done” proposition. We’re continually bombarded by negativity, bad news, social media screeds, fear, difficulty, and stress. That’s why, to be effective, affirmative prayer needs to be repeated regularly. As one classic teaching states, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Or, like co-founder Tehilla Lichtenstein said, “Daily renewal is essential to attainment.” Learn how to pray “affirmatively.”
Shabbat and Holiday Services
MAKOR holds weekly Kabbalat Shabbat services most Friday nights at either 6 pm or 6:30 pm. Services are conducted in our Sanctuary located at the Center for Spiritual Judaism. Each service offers an opportunity for a spiritual experience, traditional prayer, silent meditation and a lesson offering an antidote to the challenges of everyday life. Our liturgy draws from many sources — traditional Jewish prayer, humanism, and other messages of faith and encouragement. Whatever branch of Judaism or other spiritual path you come from, you are welcome. You’ll be treated to beautiful melodies, stirring Jewish worship, uplifting meditations and inspiring reflections.
